1. SWITCH IS A NETWORK DEVICE THAT CONNECT MULTIPAL COMPUTERS TOGETHER IN THE NETWORK.

2. SWITCH COMMUNICATION BASED ON MAC-ADDRESS.

3. SWITCH CAN EASILY INDETIFIE THAT WHICH DEVICE IS CONNECTED WHICH WITH PORT BY USING MAC-ADDRESS THAT WHY IT DELIVERED MESSAGE ON PARTICULAR DESTINATION MACHINE.

2 TYPES OF SWITCH.

 1. UNMENADABLE SWITCH 

NO CONFIGRATION AND VERIFIVATION CAN BE DONE.

 2. MENAGEABLE SWITCH

WE CAN CONFIGRATION AND VERIFICATION THROUGH SOME LAN PROTOCOL. IT HAS A CONSOLE PORT.  LAN PROTOCOL: UTP,STP,ULAN.

ADDVANTAGES OF SWITCH

1. IT GENERALLY USED TO UNICAST THE MESSAGE.

2. IT PROVIDES MORE SECURITY THAN HUB.

3. SWITCH SUPPORT FULL DUPLEX DATA TRANSMISSION MODE.

4. IF A NODE FAILS,THERE WILL BE NO EFFECT IN THE ENTIRE NETWORK.

5. IT IS USED TO SEND DATA PACKET BASED ON MAC-ADDRESS.

DISSADVANTAGES OF SWITCH

1. IF SWITCH IS FAILED THEN ENTIRE NETWORK WILL BE FAILED.

2. IT IS MORE EXPENSIVE.

3. DIFFICULT TO SETUP.
