FTP CONFIGURATION

 

WHAT IS FTP

1. FTP STANDS FOR FILE TRANSFER PROTOCOL IS USED TO TRANSFER THE FILE FROM SERVER TO CLIENT MACHINE AND VICE VERSA.

2. FILE SERVER IS A COMPUTER RESPONSIBLE FOR THE STORAGE AND MANAGEMENT OF DATA FILES SO THAT OTHER COMPUTER ON THE SAME NETWORK CAN ACCESS THIS FILE.

3. IT IS USES THE TCP IP PROTOCOL TO ENABLE DATA TRANSFER.

4. FTP PORT NO IS 21.

WORKING FTP

THE FIRST COMPUTER REQUEST THE FTP SERVICE ON THE SERVER AND THEN SENDS ITS FILE TO THE FTP SERVICE AND THEN REQUENTS THE FTP SERVICE ON THE SERVER AGAIN WHEN ANOTHER COMPUTER NEEDS THAT FILE. RECEIVES THE SAME FILE THAT IS SENT BY THE COMPUTER FIRST.

CONFIGURATION FTP

STEP 1

1. CONFIGURE IP ADDRESS ON ALL END  DEVICES.

2. CREAT A FILE IN PC1

STEP 2

1. FTP SERVICE CREAT  USERNAME AND PASSWORD.

2. SEND FILE PC1 IN FTP SERVER

3. RECIEVE FILE LAPTOP FOR PC 1 FILE.

STEP 1


1. ALL DEVICES GO TO DESKTOP AND CLICK IP CONFIGURATION AND ENTER IP ADDRESS.
FOR EX : FTP SERVER CONFIGURE IP ADDRESS.


2. GO TO PC1 DESKTOP AND CLICK Text Editor AND CREAT A FILE. AFTER THIS CLICK CROSS CUIRCLE IN Text Editor. AND AFTER THIS CLICK SAVE AND ENTER FILE NAME.
AND CLICK OK.



AFTER THIS STEPS GO TO PC1 TFTP Server IN DESKTOP AND CLICK HIS. YOU SEE IT FILE CREATED ab.txt


AFTER THAT GO TO  FTP SERVER AND CLICK SERVICES. AND AGAIN CLICK FTP. AND ENTER USERNAME AND PASSWORD AND CLICK ADD.


IF YOU SELECT WRITE IN ITS OPTIONS, IT WILL ONLY BE ABLE TO WRITE THAT FILE. AND IF YOU SELECT READ IN ITS OPTIONS,IT WILL BE ONLY READ THAT FILE.

IF YOU SELECT DELETE IN ITS OPTIONS,IT WILL BE ONLY DELETE THAT FILE.IF YOU SELECT RENAME IN ITS OPTIONS,IT WILL BE ONLY RENAME THAT FILE. SO YOU HAVE TO SELECT ALL.

AFTER THIS ALL STEP GO TO PC1 DESKTOP AND CLICK COMMAND PROMPT. AND PING FTP SERVER IP ADDRESS FOR CHECK COMMUNICATION.

YES 99% COMMINICATION BETWEEN PC1 AND FTP SEVER. SO ENTER HIS COMMAND.


C:\>FTP 192.168.1.1


ENTER PASSWORD IS MANAN YOU CREATED FTP. AFTER THAT ENTER COMMAND.

ftp> put ab.txt

YOU PUT THIS FILE ON THE FTP THAT A CRAETED IN  A Text Editor. AND YOU SEE THAT THE  FILE (ab.txt) WE CREATED IS COPY IN FTP.

AFTER THIS ENTER THE COMMAND.

ftp> dir

YOU SEE THAT THE FILE THAT WE CREATED HAS BEEN ADDED TO THE FTP FILE.

NOW ANYONE ACCESSING THE FTP SERVER CAN ACCESS THESE FILES AS WELL.

GO TO LAPTOP1 CMD PROMPOT AND ENTER COMMAND FOR ACEESS FTP SERVER.

C:\>FTP 192.168.1.1

YOU SEE FTP SERVER IS ACCESS IN LAPTOP1.

ftp> dir

 AFTER THAT FIND A FILE (ab.txt) IN THE  FTP FILES.

WHEN YOU SEE THE FILE SO ENTER COMMAND IS.

ftp> get ab.txt


AFTER THIS PROCCESS,YOU GO TO LAPTOP 1 DESKTOP AND CLICK TFTP SERVER.



COMPLETED FTP CONFIGURATION.

FTP SERVER PC1 SEND THE FILR TO FTP SERVER AND RECIEVED THE FILE LAPTOP1 IN FTP SERVER.
