Bgp Routing Protocol

WHAT IS BGP

1. BGP IS A STANDERISED EXTERIOR GATEWAY PROTOCOL.

2.  DESIGNED TO EXCHANGE ROUTING AND REACHABILITY INFORMATION AMONG AUTONOMOUS SYSTEM (AS)  NUMBER ON THE INTERNET.

3. EACH BGP STORE INFORMATION ABOUT HOW TO REACH OTHER NETWORK.

FEATURES OF BGP

1. CONNECT MULTI AS NUMBER.

2. KNOWN AS MULTI DOMAIN ROUTING.

3. MOSTLY USED FOR ISP LEVEL NETWORK.

4. IT IS AN EXTERIOR ROUTING PROTOCOL.

5. INTER DOMAIN ROUTING PROTOCOL.

6. USED FOR INTERNET COMMUNICATION SYSTEM

7. NUMBER OF HOPES IS EQUAL AS NUMBER.

8. IT IS A PATH VECTOR ROUTING PROTOCOL.

9. SLOW ROUTING DECISIONS.

10. IT IS RUN OVER TCP .

11. BGP SUPPORTED SECURITY.

______________

CONFIGURATION BGP

STEP 1

1. FIRST OF ALL YOU HAVE TO TAKE  TWO SWITCHES AND  ROUTER.

SWITCH AND ROUTER  CAN TAKE ANY MODEL OF  AND  AND ALSO YOU HAVE TO TAKE  AFTER THAT PC AND A LAPTOP.

2. AFTER THAT ASSIGN A IP ADDRESS IN ALL DEVICES.

STEP 2

CONFIGURATION BGP IN TWO ROUTER R1 AND R2.

______________

STEP 1

CONFIGURATION IP ADDRESS IN ALL DEVICES.

GO TO R1 CONFIGURATION MODE AND ENTER COMMANDS

Router(config)# inter gig0/0

Router(config-if)# ip address 1.1.1.1 255.0.0.0

Router(config-if)# no shutdown

Router(config)#inter gig0/1

Router(config-if)#ip address 192.168.1.1 255.255.255.0

Router(config-if)#no shutdown

GP TO R2 CONFIGURATION MODE AND ENTER COMMANDS

Router(config)# inter gig0/0

Router(config-if)# ip address 1.1.1.2 255.0.0.0

Router(config-if)# no shutdown

Router(config)#inter gig0/1

Router(config-if)#ip address 192.165.1.1 255.255.0.0

Router(config-if)#no shutdown

AFTER THAT GO TO PC 1 "DESKTOP" AND CLICK "IP CONFIGURATION" AND ENTER IP ADDRESS SAME AS IT IS LAPTOP 1.

STEP 2

GO TO R1 CONFIGURATION  MODE AND ENTER COMMANDS.

Router(config)# ROUTER BGP 20

Router(config-router)# network 1.1.1.0

Router(config-router)# network 192.168.1.0

NETWORK MEANS THE IP ADDRESS THAT IS CONNECTED TO YOUR ROUTER'S INTERFACE, ADD A ZERO TO THAT ADDRESS BY ENDING LAST DIGIT TO CONVERT TO IT AND IT WILL BECOME YOUR NETWORK ADRESS.

AND R1 ATTACHED IP ADDRESS IS 1.1.1.1 AND 192.168.1.1

Router(config-router)# neighbor 172.168.1.1  remote-as 30

Router(config-router)# neighbor 1.1.1.2  remote-as 30

AND NEIGHBOR NETWORK MEANS THAT WHOEVER YOUR OTHER SIDE  IS CONNECTED TO THE SAME NETWORK, THAT IS, WHOEVER YOUR OTHER SIDE  IP ADDRESS IS CONNECTED WITH , THEIR ADDRESS HAS TO BE ENTERED AND ALONG WITH THEM THIS AUTONOMOUSE NUMBER(AS) SHOULD ALSO BE ADD.

____________

GO TO R2 CONFIGURATION MODE AND ENTER COMMANDS.

Router(config)# ROUTER BGP 30

Router(config-router)#  network 1.1.1.0

Router(config-router)#  network 172.165.0.0

Router(config-router)# neighbor 192.168.1.1  remote-as 20

Router(config-router)# neighbor 1.1.1.21 remote-as 20

___________

GO R1 ENABLE MODE

Router# show ip bgp summary

GO TO R2 ENABLE MODE

Router# show ip bgp summary

CHECK THE CONNECTIVITY AND COMMUNICATION BETWEEN SCHOOL LAN AND UNVERSTY LAN.

PING PC 1 TO LAPTOP 1

C:\> PING 172.165.1.10

YOU SAW THAT THERE IS COMMUNICATION BETWEEN THE SCHOOL LAN AND UNIVERSTY LAN.

Q1. WHAT IS A ADDRESSING. Network addressing is like a two-part delivery system:   Logical Addressing (IP): This is like your permanent address (e.g., 192.168.1.1) that lets data find your device anywhere on the internet. Physical Addressing (MAC): Think of this as a unique ID for your device's network card (AA:BB:CC:DD:EE:FF) used for local delivery within your network. Q2. WHAT IS A PACKET AND FRAME . Packets: Layer: Network Layer (Layer 3) Content: The actual data you want to send, like an email, a video, or website information. Addressing: Contains logical addresses (IP addresses) to identify the sender and receiver on the network. Size: Can vary depending on the data type, but generally larger than frames. Travels across networks: Packets can travel across different networks, like the internet, as they are routed based on IP addresses. Frames: Layer: Data Link Layer (Layer 2) Content: The packet wrapped with additional information for local deliver...

DOS AND DDOS ATTACK

A Dos (Denial-Of-Service) Attack and A DDOS (Distributed Denial-Of-Service) Attack Are Both Attempts to Make a Computer System or Network Resource Unavailable to Legitimate Users. However, They Differ in How They Achieve This: Dos Attack: Imagine A Single Person Throwing Rocks at A Castle Gate. A This Person Represents the Attacker, And the Rocks Represent the Malicious Traffic. The Castle Gate Represents the Target System or Network Resource. The Attacker Keeps Throwing Rocks, Trying to Overwhelm the Gate's Defenses and Gain Entry. Dos Attacks Are Typically Launched from A Single System. They Can Be Effective Against Small Systems or Networks, But Larger Systems Can Often Withstand Them. DDos Attack: Imagine An Army Throwing Rocks at A Castle Gate. This Army Represents the Attacker, And the Rocks Represent the Malicious Traffic. The Castle Gate Represents the Target System or Network Resource. The Attackers Coordinate Their Attack, Throwing Rocks from Multiple Directions at Once. ...
